Dubai is a world class city located in the United Arab Emirates. The city has gained tremendous repute as a melting pot of various cultures and is extremely well known for its warm hospitality and rich cultural heritage. The people of Dubai welcome the visitors with open arms and leave no stones unturned to ensure a wonderful and memorable stay for the city’s visitors. With year-round sunshine, mesmerising deserts, sandy beaches, luxurious hotels, huge shopping malls, enthralling heritage attractions and a thriving business community, Dubai receives millions of leisure and business visitors each year from around the globe.


Geography

Dubai is situated roughly at 16 m or 52 ft above sea level. The Emirate of Dubai shares its borders with Abu Dhabi in the south, Sharjah in the northeast, and the Sultanate of Oman in the south-east. Hatta, a minor exclave of Dubai, is surrounded on three sides by Oman and also by the emirates of Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah. Dubai is positioned at 25.2697°N 55.3095°E and covers an area of 1,588 sq mi (4,110 km2).


Climate

Dubai is known to have a hot desert climate. Summers in Dubai can get extremely hot, windy, and humid, with an average temperature of around 42°C and lows of around 29°C. Most days in the Emirate are sunny all around the year. Winters are also warm with an average temperature of 23°C and lows of 14°C. Precipitation, however, has been increasing in the last few decades with accumulated rain reaching 250 mm.


Economy

The last few decades have witnessed astounding growth across all sectors of the Dubai economy. Although the slowdown proved to be somewhat dampener, things are now back on track and the region is set to regain its past splendour. UAE government is always striving to improve its transparency and introduce regulations that aid the formation of small and medium enterprises. Unlike the scenario before, Dubai’s economy is no longer reliant on oil and has become more diversified, relying heavily on trade, services and finance sectors. Its favourable geographic location between Asian and Europe has helped to establish Dubai as an integral part of the global trade mechanism. With its magnificent infrastructure and world famous attractions, Dubai is also a popular and one of the most visited tourist destinations on the planet.


Currency

Dubai’s local currency is the Dirham (AED or Dhs). The Dirham is pegged at 3.67 to 1 US dollar.


Language

Although Arabic is the official language of the UAE, English is widely spoken and understood. Official Language of the Forum will be English.
